VCE Biology Units 3&4

VCE Biology Units 3 & 4 Tutoring: Master the VCAA Curriculum

Part of our weekly group class offering

VCE Biology is one of the most popular yet challenging subjects in the Victorian curriculum. At Tutemax, we go beyond rote memorisation. We help students understand the "why" behind biological processes, from the microscopic machinery of a cell to the evolutionary history of humankind.

Our program is specifically designed to align with the VCAA Study Design, ensuring students are prepared for both School Assessed Coursework (SACs) and the final end-of-year examination.

VCE Biology Unit 3 & 4 Curriculum & Weekly Schedule: What We Cover

Our curriculum is divided into the two major study units, focusing on high-yield topics and the application of knowledge.

Unit 3: How do cells maintain life?

  • The Relationship Between Nucleic Acids and Proteins: Understanding DNA, RNA, and the protein secretory pathway.

  • Photosynthesis & Cellular Respiration: A deep dive into C3, C4, and CAM plants, and the biochemical pathways of energy transformation.

  • Biotechnologies: Mastering CRISPR-Cas9, PCR, gel electrophoresis, and recombinant plasmids.

Unit 4: How does life change and respond to challenges?

  • Responding to Antigens: The innate and adaptive immune systems, and the role of vaccinations.

  • Evolutionary Relationships: Analysing the evidence for evolution, including fossil records and DNA homology.

  • Human Change over Time: Investigating hominin evolution and the migration of populations.

The Tutemax Approach

Whether you join our Weekly Group Classes or prefer 1-on-1 Private Tutoring, we provide a toolkit for success:

  • VCAA-Style Question Banks: We don't just use textbook questions. We practice with questions that mimic the specific phrasing and rigor of VCAA exams.

  • Scientific Poster Mastery: Dedicated support for the Unit 4 AOS 3 practical investigation, helping students design, analyse, and present their findings.

  • Mnemonics & Visualization: Complex pathways (like the Krebs Cycle or the Inflammatory Response) are broken down into memorable, visual flowcharts.
